Most people don't fail because they choose the wrong dream.
They fail because they quit too soon. I used to believe that successful people had something I didn't have.
More talent.
More confidence.
More money.
More opportunities.
But over time I realized something important:
Most successful people simply stayed committed longer than everyone else.
They kept going after the excitement faded.
They kept going when progress was slow.
They kept going when things got hard.
And that's exactly what God calls us to do.
What Is Your Number One Dream?
Before you can build a different life, you need clarity about what you're building. What is the dream, goal, or calling that God has placed on your heart?
Maybe it's:
Starting a business
Writing a book
Improving your health
Strengthening your faith
Healing from your past
Serving others through ministry
Building a better future for your family
Whatever it is, stop worrying about the "how" for a moment. Instead, focus on the "what" and the "why."
Why does this matter to you?
Why does it keep showing up in your heart?
Why won't it leave you alone?
Often the dreams that refuse to go away are the ones God is trying to get us to pay attention to.
Seek God's Direction First
Many people spend years chasing goals without ever asking God if they're headed in the right direction.
I know because I've done it. The older I get, the more I realize that success without God's direction can still leave you feeling empty. Before you make plans, seek His wisdom.
Pray.
Listen.
Study His Word.
Ask Him to reveal His purpose for your life. The goal isn't simply to accomplish more. The goal is to become who God created you to be.
Do You Have a Decided Heart?
One of the most important questions you can ask yourself is this:
How committed am I really?
It's easy to be committed when we're motivated. It's easy to be committed when everything is going well. The real test comes when:
Progress feels slow.
You face setbacks.
People don't support you.
Fear starts creeping in.
You don't know what to do next.
A decided heart says:
"I may not know how this is going to happen, but I'm not giving up."
A decided heart says:
"I trust God enough to keep taking the next step."
A decided heart isn't stubbornness. It's faith. It's choosing to remain committed even when you don't have all the answers.
What To Do When You Feel Like Quitting
At some point, everyone feels like quitting.
Every dream.
Every goal.
Every calling.
Every transformation journey.
There will be moments when you wonder if it's worth it. I've had those moments. When I left my old life behind and moved across the country, there were many days I questioned myself. There were days I felt overwhelmed. Days I felt uncertain. Days I wondered if I had made the right decision.
But quitting would have guaranteed I never experienced the life God was leading me toward. That's why one of the most powerful decisions you can make is this:
Remove quitting as an option.
Not because the journey will be easy.
But because the life God has for you is worth fighting for.
Stop Waiting Until You Have It All Figured Out
One of the biggest mistakes people make is believing they need a complete plan before they begin.
They tell themselves:
I'll start when I have more money.
I'll start when I feel confident.
I'll start when I'm ready.
I'll start when I know exactly what to do.
The problem is that readiness often comes after action, not before it. God rarely shows us the entire path. Instead, He usually reveals the next step. Faith is often choosing to take that next step before you can see the destination.
Growth Happens Through Commitment
The person who achieves their goals isn't always the smartest person. Or the most talented. Or the most gifted. It's often the person who simply refused to quit. The person who kept showing up. The person who kept learning. The person who kept trusting God.
Consistency may not feel exciting, but it changes everything. Small steps repeated over time create extraordinary results.
God Is Preparing You For More
Sometimes we wonder why God hasn't opened the next door. Why the breakthrough hasn't come. Why the dream hasn't happened yet. What if God isn't withholding something from you? What if He's preparing you for it?
Scripture reminds us that with greater responsibility comes greater stewardship. God often develops our character before He expands our influence. He strengthens our faith before He increases our opportunities. He teaches us discipline before He entrusts us with more.
The waiting season may actually be a preparation season.
Final Thoughts
The life you want won't be built in a day. Neither will the person God is shaping you to become. But every day you choose faith over fear...
Every day you choose consistency over excuses...
Every day you choose to keep going instead of giving up...
You move closer to the future God has for you.
Don't focus on how far you still have to go. Focus on taking the next faithful step. And keep taking it. Because the people who experience transformation aren't the ones who never struggle.
They're the ones who refuse to quit.
Reflection Question
What dream, goal, or calling has God placed on your heart that requires you to develop a more decided heart?
And what is one step you can take toward it today?
